Agility

Agility is a sport that dogs enjoy as much as their owners. It is a timed obstacle course where the dogs go over, under, around and through a course as directed by their owners. Speed, agility and the willingness to
be directed are requisites for the sport. It doesn't hurt to have an athletic owner as well!
The American Kennel Club has an agility program where AKC and ILP Greyhounds can compete. Member and licensed clubs put on the competitions under AKC rules. A copy of the regulations can be obtained directly from the AKC and is also available on their website. Other organizations holding competitions are NADAC and USDAA, their rules differ slightly and you should be aware of the differences before you enter a competition.
Beginners would be wise to find a school or individual instructor for their introduction to the sport. It is important that the dog be introduced to the obstacles in a safe manner.Over facing a novice dog might set back your progress for many months. Greyhounds respond very well to positive methods and there are quite a few Greyhounds currently competing.
