VERSATILITY AWARDS

Versatility Award

In 1995 the Greyhound Club of America instituted the Versatility Award given to Greyhounds that successfully competed in conformation, running and performance sports. These dogs showed a Greyhound can be beautiful, athletic and intelligent all at the same time. The award is presented yearly at either the Eastern, Western or Southern specialty whichever is closest to the recipient.

To earn a Versatility Award certificate, a dog must hold a title in each category listed below:

Conformation
AKC Breed Championship

Coursing
Must have ONE of the following titles
AKC Field Championship
ASFA Field Championship
NOFCA Coursing Championship

Performance
Must have ONE of the following titles
Companion Dog
Tracking Dog
AKC NA and NAJ
USDAA AD
NADAC NAC

Versatility Award Excellent

A second award was created to honor dogs that excelled in one of the above areas, either conformation, running ability or trainability. This award was called the Versatility Award Excellent. To earn a Versatility Award Excellent certificate in addition to the requirements shown above for the Versatility Award, the dog must have ONE of the following:


Group First win
Specialty Best of Breed win
ASFA Lure Courser of Merit
NOFCA Courser of Merit
Utility Dog
Tracking Dog Excellent
AKC AX and AXJ
USDAA MAD
NADAC EAC

These awards typically take years to achieve and are the hardest award a dog can earn.
